Description:
This silkscreen by Mario Schifano features a minimalist composition with a strong conceptual impact. The central element is a pair of aviator sunglasses, whose reflections are colored in yellow and green, creating an almost psychedelic effect. The glasses seem to float on a light background, characterized by applied fragments of paper, which recall the collage technique.
At the top you can see the writing "BANCO DI ROMA", which adds an element of contextualization and possible reflections on the relationship between consumption, economy and visual perception. In fact, here he could be ironic about branding, advertising and the omnipresence of economic institutions in everyday life.
The work therefore seems to play on the fusion between visual perception and social conditioning, uniting the symbol of money (Banco di Roma) and that of fashion and lifestyle (sunglasses).
