Description:
The original image is constructed from torn pieces of film posters, superimposed and torn, creating an effect of fragmentation and overlapping of images and texts (decollage). At the center of the work emerges the face of Elvis Presley in a dramatic position, probably taken from a poster of a noir or detective film. The open mouth and the angle of the face suggest a scene of tension or pathos.

The intense red color dominates the composition, increasing the sense of drama and passion.
The presence of the name Elvis Presley and the writing "OGGI al METROPOLITAN" evokes the world of cinema and pop culture of the 1950s and 1960s.
The fragments of torn paper give the surface of the work a rough and lived-in quality, evoking the passing of time and the memory of urban visual culture.

Meaning and interpretation:
Reflection on mass culture – Like many of Rotella’s works, this silkscreen reflects on the overlapping of images from popular culture, particularly cinema and music, which are central elements in consumer society.
Decadence and memory – The tears and lacerations not only break down the image, but also suggest the deterioration of time, as if the work were a poster consumed by urban life.
Dynamism and visual chaos – The contrast between the intact parts of the image and the torn ones creates a visual movement that recalls the chaos of the city and contemporary life.
“Assalto alla notte” is therefore a work that combines cinema, music, urban memory and visual deconstruction, remaining faithful to Rotella’s poetics of transforming advertising posters into works of art with a strong emotional and conceptual impact.
